Ligia Goncalves Diniz

Ligia Gonçalves Diniz was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1979. She holds a PhD in Literature from the University of Brasília (UnB) and is a professor of Literary Theory and Comparative Literature at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). She is the author of Imaginação como presença: o corpo e seus afetos na experiência literária (Editora UFPR, 2020), a work that originated in the doctoral thesis that won the Capes Prize in the Linguistics and Literature category in 2017, which received first place in the Human Sciences Category of the 7th edition of the ABEU Prize (Brazilian Association of University Publishers). She also published O homem não existe: masculinidade, desejo e ficção (Companhia das Letras, 2024), a book inspired by essays, in which the author reflects, from a female perspective and literary theory, on the figurations of what it means to be a man.
