Danny Caine

Danny Caine is a poet, bookseller, and writer. He is the author of books of poetry and essays, and the owner of the Raven Book Store in Lawrence, Kansas, United States. He has also published Como resistir à Amazon e por quê: a luta por economias locais, proteção de dados, trabalho justo, livrarias independentes e um futuro impulsionado por pessoas (Elefante, 2023), a work in which he draws on his years of experience as the owner of a small bookstore to present important reasons why one should not buy anything from Jeff Bezos’ growing business conglomerate. The arguments of the author, a passionate defender of independent physical bookstores, go beyond a critique of the way these companies operate, highlighting the community aspects that are lost through this type of consumer relationship. Caine’s work as a poet has been published in outlets such as The Slowdown,, LitHub,, DIAGRAM,, HAD and Barrelhouse, and in 2019 he was named Bookseller of the Year by the Midwest Independent Booksellers Association.
