PANEL 19 – Cartographies to Postpone the End of the World

With Ailton Krenak and Muniz Sodré

Host: Vagner Amaro, writer, librarian and founding editor of Malê, specialized in Brazilian literature

To close this edition of Flip, we are lucky to have the unprecedented meeting of Muniz Sodré and Ailton Krenak, who simultaneously produce and comment on the maps that will guide us while we face increasing Brazilian and world challenges. On one stand will be the author of Pensar nagô [Nagô Thinking] and A Sociedade Incivil [uncivil Society]; on the other, the author of Ideias para adiar o fim do mundo [Ideas to Postpone the End of the World] and O amanhã não está à venda [Tomorrow is Not for Sale]. In Brazil, indigenous shamanisms and Afro-Brazilian religions gather around plants, which enable their respective technologies of ecstasy, healing and world knowledge. Without leaves, there is no celebration, there is no life, there is nothing. How can we strengthen learning with the plant kingdom? How can we build a network of forests and schools? In addition to the conversation and bearing answers, the videography will present maps created in the cartography workshops of the Maxakali and Guarani indigenous peoples. New maps for new worlds
