Flip 2016, the poetry year!

As well as the opening, with Armando Freitas Filho, and the Poetry Reading, Flip 2016 has made sure there is room in its programme for poets and poetry readers. The Rio-based poet Leonardo Fróes celebrates a magnificent career, spanning almost fifty years of poetry and literary translation, whilst the table that brings together Annita Costa Malufe, Marília Garcia and Laura Liuzzi, direct heirs of Cristina Cesar, reinforces Flip’s commitment to this important and vibrant genre.

The British poet Kate Tempest turns her poems into a true stage of art that subverts the traditions of the literary world – something that the Rio de Janeiro native Ramon Nunes Mello also does in his own way. With humour and poetic flair, the Syrian writer Abud Said, living in exile in Germany, provides news of the civil war being waged in his native country and the refugee crisis in Europe.
